It what can only be described as a strangely prophetic, all the predictions have been counted and verified and the majority of us have gone for the blue teams over the red teams.
For our 60 remaining players (81% turnout), Leicester (26 - Lab Hold) are the top pick, with Liverpool (14 - Lab Hold), cruising 8 points clear at the top of the table and the second most popular and Chelsea (13 - Con Hold) third. Only Diana can walk off with the pot this weekend, with her choice of Spurs..... and Sheffield Utd have picked up 2 as well.... which surprises me.... but I've been surprised a lot in the last 24 hours.... so I think I'll go and have a drink and stop thinking about it. Have a good weekend everyone, whether you're a blue or a red..... or yellow or green... or...... I'll be back on Sunday night with the results. Friday Fact Klaxon - Having previously beaten Watford 6-1, 5-0 and 5-0 at Anfield, Liverpool can become the first team to beat a top-flight opponent by at least five goals in four consecutive home matches I know we're still waiting on the result of the Arsenal game tomorrow for Steve G's prediction but I'll be out canvassing for the Monster Raving Loony Party all night, so I'm getting ahead of myself.... again..... some might say.
14 players have sadly crashed out in week 1, meaning they have the frustrating task of receiving my AFT emails until someone wins or we get an elusive rollover. New managers seem to have been the way forward for some this weekend, with Spurs winning 5-0 with their new special one and Everton's caretaker manager guiding them past Chelsea and ruining 5 of yours chances in the process. For those that made it through, well done and you can click HERE to make that next prediction. You have, as always, until Friday at 6PM to get them in. Have a good week and make sure you vote the correct way on Thursday...... !! Evening everyone and thanks for joining in with the 3rd game of this years 'Al's Footy Thing'. We've got a healthy turnout with 74 players (a new record I think), giving us a pot of £370. WOOHOO!! But I'm already crossing my fingers that it'll rollover.
30 of us have been swayed by the special ones new reign (deer) in North London and have gone for Spurs, with Liverpool (17) coming in as the second most popular pick. Kim's gone for Norwich...... so could possibly walk off with the pot....... but that's unlikely to happen..... really. And Steve G's gone for Arsenal..... which just makes everything even more confusing. FRIDAY FACT KLAXON - Spurs have won seven of their last eight home meetings with Burnley in all competitions since a 4-1 League Cup defeat in January 1983..... 30 people give a sigh of relief. We have a winner ladies and gentlemen. Des wins the £350 pot after Spurs win against Bournemouth and Stel's choice of Wolves can't quite make it past Sheffield Utd.
Well done Des (Andy L called to say you owe him some commission) and what a shame for Stel, a great run but not quite long enough. This all means that we will be starting a new game but we'll be skipping the mid-week games this week, because trying to get 70 of you to pay and predict by tomorrow night will be impossible. So you have the rest of the week to get yourselves sorted before we start again. A 'new start' email will be sent out soon. Sunday Fact Klaxon - In the whole of last season we only managed 2 winners, Jacques and Fiona. We've had 2 winners in the first 2 games this season.... I'm worried we may never get a rollover again............ |
