Where are the 'Pools' when you need them..... One for people of my age (22?) and above, obviously.
Big clear out this week. West Ham didn't quite blow enough bubbles to beat Palace, knocking 27 of you out, with another 11 following them and I won't mention Arsenal, as none of you picked them ........... but......... it's been....... they should...... Ahhhh, you know. All this means we've lost 38 players, leaving 54 to go through to week 4 of this pool. Well done to you. With the World Cup qualifiers taking place next week, Hungary on Thursday, Andorra, Sunday and Poland, Wednesday, there's no PL games until September 11th. You're welcome to make your next prediction immediately but I'll be back with reminders closer the time, so enjoy the international break...... and the heatwave I've been hearing some much about!?! Sunday Fact - Spurs have won their opening three league games of a season without conceding a goal for the first time on their history. Nuno Knows! He's Baaaaack. But he's no Messi is he?........... Discuss.
We head into the second week of this pool with 92 players and a very random set of teams chosen. Dom's gone it alone with Leeds and either Kim (Brighton) and Charlie (Everton) are going out... or maybe both of them.... having both gone it alone with their picks, who happen to be playing each other, Spurs picked up the most 'likes' this week, with 33 of you going for them to beat Watford at White Hart Lane. West Ham had possibly their best week ever (In AFT World), with 27 of you hoping they can get a win against London rivals Crystal Palace. I'll be back on Sunday night with the results. I hope you all have a great bank holiday weekend...... It looks like it might be a sunny one....!?! Friday Fact - I've tried multiple times to contact Jake And Alexis Psy' via email with no joy, so they're both getting Norwich this weekend .... unless they get back to me tonight..... That's the 6 o'clock cutoff rule I'm afraid. Sending this out early, as I've got a busy evening tomorrow.
With West Ham still to play tomorrow night to see if Nina (Happy Birthday again) gets through, this has actually been one of the better starts to an AFT season that I've seen, well done (in a slightly patronising voice). Although 13 of you will obviously disagree, especially the eight of you that went for Man Utd..... will you ever learn? If you've been knocked out, console yourselves with the thought that it could go to a rollover, meaning the pot will double in size to over a grand! So cross your fingers and maybe put a fiver on Brentford in the meantime. For the rest of us, click HERE to make that next prediction, which needs to be with me by 6pm on Friday. Have a good week. Sunday Night Fact - Virgil van Dijk has made 48 home Premier League appearances for Liverpool, losing none (W43 D5). Only Lee Sharpe has played more home matches for one club in the competition without losing any, with 59 for Man Utd. In what can only be described as the feeling you get when you win your first game back in the top flight after 74 years away........... amazingly, we have a record 105 players for the first AFT game of the season, giving us a pot of £525.... which I'm sure will rollover...!
Ignoring the fact that I missed the first game of the season after what turned out to be an ultimately frustrating summer of football, at least we now have the fans back in the stadiums and the reliance on VAR seems to be have been reduced...... a little. What could possibly go wrong now......... ? Man City (41) are the top pick for our first weekend back, even after they suffered defeat in their opening game against Spurs. Chris and Nina (happy birthday) are on for a possible pot win this weekend, having gone it alone with Wolves and West Ham respectively. Thanks for joining in, have a great weekend. I'll be back on Monday night with the results. Friday Fact - None of you are happy with the transfers you made this week. Extra Note - An update was made before and games kicked off on Saturday, Dan B is now Man City, not Chelsea. |
