Well this is spectacular isn't it, the end of week 2 and we're already down to 6 players..... maybe we're not as good at this as we thought?
For those of you that are new to Al's Footy Thing, the record number of weeks before we had a winner is somewhere around 13/14......... So no pressure. To the clever half dozen that made it through, you have until bedtime tomorrow to get me your next prediction. Cheers Fact Sunday - Gabriel Jesus (Man City) has never lost a Premier League match when he has scored (W35 D2). Only James Milner (54 matches) and Darius Vassell (46) can better his record. I pretty sure there used to be time when matches were played on a Saturday and a Sunday and that was it, rather than this constant stream of games throughout the week........... 6pm on a Tuesday, WHAT?
After a very quick turnaround, Everton (9) are the most popular pick heading into week 2 of this pool..... And well done all of you for your fantastic colour co-ordination with the predictions, you're obviously all feeling a little bit blue...... aren't we all. I'll be back on Sunday after the Brighton v Spurs game with the results. Have a good weekend. To the 24 of you that made it through week one, there's only one thing I have to say to you....... I suppose you think you're all very clever don't you? Not going for the obvious top v bottom clash? Yes..... well...... you are, so..... well done.
What a calamity for the other 55 of us. We'll just have to cross our fingers for a rollover. To those of you that made it through, you only have until tomorrow night to get those next predictions in, so don't delay, get it done now. This was definitely the wrong year to do dry January wasn't it. Welcome back, or just 'welcome', to those of you that are new to Al's Footy Thing.
We have 79 players for this latest pool, giving us a prize pot of £395 to look forward to.... or a rollover would be nice for a change. There's very little chance of anyone walking off with the pot in this first week, with eleven different teams having been picked. But we do have a rare head-to-head with Kim and Jeanette having gone for Crystal Palace and West Ham respectively in the London derby. Man Utd (44) are the most popular pick with over half of us hoping they can put at least one past Sheffield Utd without reply..... I'm not nervous, your nervous!!! I'll be back on Thursday with the results, as NatElla have been brave/crazy enough to go for Liverpool to beat Spurs at White Hart Lane.... although as I type this Spurs are 1-0 down against Wycombe... so they might be onto something? (Looked again, it's now 1-1) First weeks are always strange. Good luck everyone. We have a winner!!!
Congratulations Chris, who, if I'm not mistaken, has been with this game since its inception and never won, so a long over due success. Well done. It's late and it'll take me a while in the morning to set up the next game, ready to take everyone's predictions, so expect another email then and we'll get started on a new game. |
